D’Amour Center for Cancer Care
3350 Main St.
Springfield, MA 01107
(413) 794-9338

The DCCC is located between Birnie Ave and Main St. The entrance of the center faces Birnie Ave. The street number of the building is 3350 Main St. The building itself, is modern in appearance with lots of glass and steel. Regardless of your approach, you want to find the Birnie Ave entrance to the Cancer Center and drive under the portico and let valet parking park your car. This service is free. Once you become acquainted with the area, there is parking in the parking garage or the adjacent lot, but using valet parking reduces the stress of the first visit. Whatever you do, DO NOT park on Birnie Ave. For sure you will get a parking ticket.
When you come in to the building, you will be struck by the architecture and design. You will be on the First Floor. You will notice, there are no signs. If you look to the right, you will see a Receptionist’s Desk. It is usually staffed by volunteers and sometimes a staff person. They should be able to direct you to your appointment.
A general layout of the building is as follows. The radiation service is on the first floor to the left of the elevator (there is a reception desk in the radiation dept as well). If you take the elevator to the second floor, take a right off the elevator for the treatment areas and physician appointments. If you are looking for the Pediatric area, when you get off the elevator, you will again go right, look straight ahead and open the door into the Sadowsky Center for Children. The social worker’s offices are also located on the second floor behind “the Café”.

The Café offers a small variety of food items including sandwiches, salads, yogurt, coffee, and other soft drinks. The DCCC Café is open very limited hours. Please click this link (Get Away for Lunch) for other places to eat. Next door to the cancer center at 3300 Main St, there is another Café that offers more variety and longer hours. Also located at 3300 Main St. is a Baystate Pharmacy that is open Monday thru Friday.
Although this is a designated cancer center, there are other conditions that are treated in this building so it is helpful to know that not every patient here has a cancer diagnosis.
It’s been our experience that this building tends to be chilly and we would advise patients and families to bring an extra sweater from home. If you are cold, ask your nurse for a blanket.
When you have finished your appointment, as you exit the elevator on the first floor, you will notice on your left a glass enclosed area that says “Resource Center”. This program is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and offers free educational material on a variety of cancer related topics. There is general resource information and information on special programs that may be of interest to you. Also the resource center is manned by ACS volunteers who can help you locate information that you may be looking for. For example, they will conduct a computer search for you on a cancer related topic.
Now, that you are ready to leave the building, find your valet ticket to retrieve your car. Although this is a free service, if your circumstances allow, some people have wanted to tip the valet attendants. Tipping is not expected, but they are usually very helpful.
The valet attendants leave at 4:30PM and if you are in the building beyond that time, look for your car keys at the second level receptionist desk.
We have tried to give you some hints that may be helpful. We want to hear from you.
