So You Need a Transplant (by Marge
Morgan)
Amy had her bone marrow transplant at Tufts New England Medical
Center in April, 2002. We had the good fortune of staying at The
Neely House (sponsored by the Cam Neely Foundation). It is a
home away from home and how we longed for Neely House when Amy
transferred to Beth Israel for care.

So You Need A Transplant (by Kathy Mosellen)

year old son was undergoing a bone marrow transplant and
related treatment. We arrived shortly after Dr. Miller joined
the Bone Marrow Transplant group at Beth Israel. The program

load Dr. Miller brought with him.

So You Are a Donor
Chances are, if you are reading this, you are a family member
who has been found to be a “match” and you will be a donor.
Our mission is to keep it simple and tell you what we
experienced. Keep in mind that every institution has its own
protocols. I was a match for Amy. Our procedure was done at
NEMC. I was given a doctor that was just mine and went through
all the pre-op stuff that one does for any procedure that uses
general anesthesia. You are given a schedule and you go place
to place having the tests done.

Advice from Andrew
Andrew Bissaro is the Clinical Coordinator of the
Hematology/Bone Marrow Transplant Program at Beth Israel
Deaconess Medical Center. He is the first person Amy would look
for when she arrived for her Clinic appointment. He can be
recognized by his wonderful shirts. Andrew knows what is going
on, and can be very helpful until you learn the routine.
